Is the ability to change email and password a privilege or a right?

Now, this is to do with an internet software, and the permissions settings that are in the program by default.

Of course, I, like most others here, use a multiple amount of net programs, and frequent a lot of sites.

That means, I have a lot of sites, where I'd need to change passwords, and occasionally, my email address, as I'm sure most of you do, too.

Now, think, you find out that someone got your password to a site. So, you do what you think is the right thing to do, and go to that site, edit your account, and change your password. However, you find out, they have it set to where you can't!

Or, you can't even change your email, to comply with the site's requirement of keeping your info up to date, and your old email address is now not able to be accessed.
